- What it is
- Superficial muscle along the radial (thumb) border of the forearm, from the upper lateral supracondylar ridge of the humerus to the base of the radial styloid process.
- Function
- Flexes the elbow, most strongly with the forearm half-pronated (thumb up, as when drinking).
- Size
- About 25 cm long; belly 3–4 cm wide.
- Clinical note
- Although it lies in the extensor compartment and is supplied by the radial nerve, it flexes the elbow; its reflex tests C6.
