Right lymphatic duct
Ductus lymphaticus dexter
Lymphatic & immuneLymphaticsThoraxRight side
- What it is
- A very short vessel at the root of the right side of the neck formed by the right jugular, subclavian and bronchomediastinal trunks, opening into the junction of the right internal jugular and subclavian veins.
- Function
- Drains the "right upper quadrant" of the body: the right side of the head and neck, the right arm and the right half of the chest, heart and lungs.
- Size
- About 1-1.5 cm long, 2-3 mm wide
- Clinical note
- Often absent as a single vessel: in most people the three trunks open into the veins separately. Its small territory is why breast or chest disease on the right rarely produces a chylothorax.
