- Medial and smallest column of the erector spinae, running between spinous processes from the upper lumbar to the upper thoracic and lower cervical spine.
- Function
- Extends the thoracic and cervical spine.
- Size
- About 30 cm long and ~1 cm wide.
- Clinical note
- Lies against the spinous processes, where the paraspinal muscles are stripped in posterior spinal surgery.
