- Small conical fleshy projection hanging from the middle of the free edge of the soft palate.
- Function
- Helps the soft palate close the nasopharynx during swallowing and secretes thin saliva.
- Size
- About 1-1.5 cm long and 0.8 cm wide.
- Clinical note
- With a vagus nerve lesion the uvula deviates away from the injured side when the patient says "ah".
