Bronchus lobaris superior dexter
RespiratoryOrgansThoraxRight side
- What it is
- Arises from the right main bronchus only 1–2 cm below the carina, above the pulmonary artery (hence "eparterial"), and splits into apical, posterior and anterior segmental bronchi.
- Function
- Secondary (lobar) bronchus: conducts air to one lobe of the lung.
- Size
- About 1–1.5 cm long, 8–10 mm wide.
- Clinical note
- Lobar bronchi are the level at which the lung is removed in a lobectomy; their walls contain irregular cartilage plates instead of rings.
