ReproductiveOrgansPelvis
Shown on the male body.
- What it is
- Single ventral erectile body surrounding the spongy urethra; it swells into the bulb in the perineum and expands at its far end into the glans.
- Function
- Engorges less than the corpora cavernosa, so the urethra stays open for ejaculation during erection.
- Size
- About 1 cm across in the shaft; the bulb is about 3 cm wide.
- Clinical note
- The bulbospongiosus muscle wraps its bulb and squeezes out the last drops of urine and semen.
